The Swedish Center
A name that reflects our history
We can also refer to the association “Home of the Two Hearts” as “The Swedish Center.”
We can do this to allow our history to emerge more clearly. The association is rooted in the inspiration that Vassula Rydén articulated during her final year for this very place. In both private and public statements, she referred to the site and the project as “The Swedish Center” and also used the term “Main Center” for what was to grow here. She personally approved the project as it began to take shape on the property.
At the same time, we find ourselves in a situation where words and designations must be used with precision and care. Shortly after Vassula’s passing, Foundation for True Life in God chose not to continue the association’s project. In this context, the designation “The Swedish Center” reflects the actual identity and history of the place, and emphasizes the continuity of the work that was initiated at that time, while also respecting FTLIG’s rights regarding trademarks and formal designations connected to Vassula and her legacy.
The association Home of the Two Hearts preserves the substance: the inspiration that Vassula Rydén affirmed for us.
“So rely on God’s calling and have confidence in Him who inspired you; trust Him more. Let us remain in peace and stop worrying.”
The name thus holds together both respect for the present situation and fidelity to her explicit wish.
We continue the work in the same spirit as before, in fidelity to the collaboration we shared with Vassula during her final period: to bring to completion the vision of a living place that embodies Christian unity and prayer.
Concretely, this is realized by establishing and maintaining a small library of Vassula’s writings in one of the buildings on the property. The space may also be used to screen films or host simple exhibitions. This is what Vassula asked of us.
The Swedish Center – Home of the Two Hearts is now an independent initiative and has no formal affiliation with FTLIG (Foundation for True Life in God).
